Monthly Homework:   February
Reading:   Choose at least 10 squares on the calendar grid to complete and mark off.  Students are encouraged to read most nights at home. 
Math: Play fraction war - directions are on the back

February 4-8:
Math
:  comparing fractions and multiplication practice by 7’s color page
Reading/Science:  Science Studies Weekly magazine – read together and complete the back page

January 28-Feb. 1:
Math:  Equivalent Fractions - draw a picture and write in, mystery picture activity
Reading/Writing:  January reading reflection - please write at least 3 sentences in the summary.
  

January 22-24:
Math: Fraction problems, fractions on a number line
Writing:  Write a story about a snow day.  The story should be at least 3/4 of a page long.

January 14- 18:
Math:  Fraction and Winter Word Problems
Reading:  Li Bing and the Flood - read and answer the questions. 

January 7-11:
Math: elapsed time word problems
Reading:  Science Spin - read and answer the questions.

​December 10-14
Math:  holiday multiplication and which one doesn't belong?
Literacy:  Reach Newsletter - read the Unit 4 family connections together and do the activity.  


December 3-7:
Math:  match the equation and money 
Writing:  holiday sentence writing.  Choose one word from each category and put together into a fun sentence.  Make sure to follow capital letter and punctuation rules.

November 26-30:
Math:  money riddle and division
Reading/Writing:  November home reading reflection.  Please have them write complete sentences and follow the directions for each part.

November 13-16:  
Math:  multiply by 2 & 5, Paul Bunyan story - read and complete the problems.
Social Studies:  Branches of Government.  Please read and answer questions in complete sentences. 
 

November 6-9:
Math: multiply by 10                  
Language/Social Studies:  Which word activity
Art:  Tom Turkey - read the directions and creatively cover the turkey


October 29-November 1:
Math: multiplication facts 2 & 5’s and word problem reasoning                  
Reading/Writing:  October home reading reflection.  Please have them write complete sentences and follow the directions for each part.
Optional Social Studies:  Family Veterans Project – help your child share about any veterans in your family. 


October 22-26:
Math: Candy Rounding & Color By Number Multiplication                     
Language: Adventures in Pumpkin Carving Mad Lib – Write a word for each part of speech on the front side and then fill in the blanks in the story on the back with those words.


October 15-18:
Math:  arrays and ways to multiply
​Reading/Writing:  Read the char about ocean layers and answer the questions.   On the back edit and revise the paragraph.   


October 8 - 11:  
Math:  mulitplication practice using equal groups and pictures.  
Health:  make a family fire safety plan

October 1-5:
Math:  Making change for $1 and word problems
Reading:  Scholastic news - read and answer the questions

September 24-28:
Math:  Addition and Subtraction practice
Language Arts:  September reading reflection.  Tell and draw about a book that you read at home this month.  

September 17-21:
Math:  Rounding practice
Grammar:  Practice with common and proper nouns

September 10-14: 
Math: Mass with balance scales, mental math
Writing: Reflection on how to help in our community

September 4-7:  Art: Create Your Own Lego Mini-figure – Using the mini-figure outline, decorate it in a way that shares about you and your interests.  We will be cutting the mini-figures out and gluing them onto another sheet of paper.  
 
August 29 - August 31 : Parents please complete the Weekly Update Preferences, Parent Survey, and Volunteer Form.  Also sign up for Remind.com text message alerts from me. Green packet comes back to school with your student.
